Moon and Tide

Moon and Tide bring together a vivid scarlet octopus, swirling blue waves and a luminous moon. The flowing tentacles echo the movement of the water, while the moon offers a quiet place for the eye to rest.
Together, these elements create a feeling of mystery, energy and stillness.
My inspiration for this painting began with a cruise that used octopus' themes throughout. It was here that the idea was sparked. I love the idea of the interplay between the tentacles and the waves, dancing in concert under a spectacular full moon.
The relationship between the moon and the tide gives the work its name and invites viewers to consider the connections between things above and below the surface.
